application process. Used Car Salesperson - Pacific Honda
Non-Exempt Job Summary: The Used Car Salesperson is responsible for
selling pre-owned vehicles by engaging with potential customers,
understanding their needs, and guiding them through the purchase
process. This role involves demonstrating vehicles, negotiating
terms, and ensuring a positive buying experience while meeting
sales targets and contributing to the dealership's overall success.
Essential Functions: Greet and assist customers who visit the
dealership or inquire about used vehicles via phone, email, or
online platforms. Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand
customer preferences, budget, and vehicle requirements. Provide
detailed information about available used cars, including features,
benefits, and pricing. Present and demonstrate used vehicles to
potential buyers, highlighting key features, benefits, and value.
Offer test drives to all prospects. Follow dealership procedures to
obtain proper identification from customers prior to test drive.
Manage the entire sales process from initial contact to closing the
sale, including preparing and presenting offers, trade-in
evaluations, and financing options. Negotiate purchase terms and
pricing with customers to finalize transactions while adhering to
dealership policies. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the
dealership’s used car inventory, including vehicle specifications,
history, and market value. Stay informed about industry trends,
market conditions, and competitor offerings to effectively position
and sell used vehicles. Provide accurate and honest information
about vehicle condition, history, and pricing to build trust with
customers. Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the
sales process, ensuring a positive and memorable buying experience.
Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in
a professional and timely manner. Follow up with customers
post-sale to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term
relationships. Process sales paperwork, including contracts,
vehicle registrations, and financing applications. Maintain
accurate records of customer interactions, sales transactions, and
vehicle details in the dealership’s CRM system. Coordinate with the
finance department to ensure smooth processing of transactions and
financing approvals. Achieve or exceed individual sales targets and
contribute to the dealership’s overall sales goals. Track and
report on sales performance, including lead management, conversion
rates, and customer feedback. Participate in sales meetings,
training sessions, and dealership events to enhance skills and
performance. Work with the inventory team to ensure that used cars
are well-presented, clean, and ready for sale. Assist in managing
vehicle inventory levels and updating vehicle listings as needed.
Collaborate with the service department to address any
reconditioning or maintenance needs. Assist in promoting dealership
inventory through various marketing channels, including social
media, online platforms, and dealership events. Help prepare and
distribute promotional materials and advertisements to attract
potential buyers. Maintain satisfactory attendance. Performs other
related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of
verifiable driving experience. Minimum 1 year of customer service,
sales, or retail experience. Valid state sales license. Valid
driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have
California driver's license within 10 days following date of hire.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to perform all essential
functions of the job description. Preferred Qualifications Previous
experience in automotive sales or a customer-facing role Strong
communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage
and persuade customers. Excellent understanding of automotive
products, used car sales processes, and financing options.
Proficient in using CRM systems, dealership software, and Microsoft
Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple
tasks and handle a fast-paced sales environment. Proven track
record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and goals. Physical
Demands: Frequently stands, walks, sits; uses hands; frequently
reaches with hands and arms; frequently talks and hears.
Occasionally climbs or balances; occasionally stoops, kneels,
crouches, squats or crawls; occasionally lifts up to 15 pounds.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout retail space.
Environment/Noise: Work in both indoor and outdoor settings. May
involve exposure to varying weather conditions. Climate controlled.
